Sha’Lena McCoy is an independent R&B artist from Stockton, California, creating
emotionally honest music that is equal parts story and statement. A mental health advocate and a powerful voice for women in music, she writes the songs people feel but often struggle to say out loud grief, growth, heartbreak, healing, and the defining moments that shape who we become.
Hands-on from concept to completion, McCy Music is deeply involved in every stage of her records. From songwriting to shaping production vision, she builds immersive worlds that are as visually striking as they are sonically layered. Color is intentional. Fashion is language. Visuals are bold and unapologetic. Each era is designed with purpose because for McCy, art is never separate from real life. It reflects outgrowing friendships, walking away from what no longer fits, and learning to stand in your truth without explanation. Rooted in community and driven by personal experience, McCy Music is also a dedicated breast cancer advocate.
After losing her cousin to breast cancer this year and witnessing her mother’s strength through her own battles, the mission became deeply personal. Her music serves as both tribute and testimony carrying forward stories of resilience while pushing for awareness, support, and healing.
At the heart of her artistry is H.E.R Experience a project born from the feeling of being a passenger in the pursuit of self-love, identity, and acceptance. It explores the tension of shrinking yourself to make others comfortable and the courage it takes to reclaim your full presence. Raw and journal-like, H.E.R Experience invites listeners to witness growth in real time. It’s not about being the best it’s about having the endurance to withstand friction from the world, the “no’s,” and even your own mind.
